About Da Bears
Da Bears Robotics has been inspiring students for more than 25 years, earning over 30 awards, including 7 Blue Banners (First Place at a Competition), 4 Judges’ Awards, and 5 Entrepreneurship Awards. Our district and community have recently invested in our future by building a new, dedicated robotics facility, giving us the space and resources to continue growing.

Building dreams and engineering futures
Da Bears, Berkley High School’s FIRST Robotics Varsity Competition Team (#247), invites you to partner with us in supporting local students as they grow through hands-on experiences in engineering, business, and information technology. By providing access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) opportunities, we help students build lifelong skills that prepare them for future careers.
Our team brings together students from across the Berkley School District (Berkley, Huntington Woods, and parts of Oak Park) to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), a global program founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1992. FIRST is recognized worldwide by colleges, universities, and industry leaders for developing teamwork, problem-solving, and technical skills in young people.
Each January, competition season begins with a six-week challenge to design, build, and program a 125-pound robot to meet a unique game objective. At tournaments across Michigan, teams face off in 3-on-3 matches that highlight both innovation and the core value of “gracious professionalism.”
